I’ve practiced various visual arts since my high school days, where I focused on painting and textile arts. Over the years I have exhibited in juried shows and sold commissioned works in watercolor, fabric and multimedia collage. Through my professional business career, I pursued teaching credentials, which I enthusiastically applied to offering classes to colleagues as part of leadership development and personal growth. But after almost 30 years, a corporate career was losing its charm, so I took the plunge turned my hobby into a full-time arts business in 2005.

My love of jewelry and sculptural forms led me to learn about metal working, and I fell in love with the endless creative aspects of polymer clay, beadwork, chain making and wirework. This led to my curiosity about precious metal clays. where I I found an immediate affinity for metal in this form. The silver or gold is in particle form, held together with an organic binder that allows the artist to shape, mold, stamp, carve — or whatever takes your fancy. The dried pieces are then fired in a kiln, where they turn into pure metals: .999 fine silver, and 22K gold. From here, the process can be taken wherever the artist imagines, as the finished jewelry designs can incorporate any type of material you wish. An important aspect of this to me is that the metals are recycled from other industries, so they are environmentally friendly.

I am a Senior Instructor for Art Clay World. See the class schedule for details on upcoming classes.

My work can be seen in various galleries and retail stores and at the many art shows I participate in during the year. For upcoming shows and events, see the shows page.

I have served as a board member of the Creative Metals Arts Guild in Portland, Oregon. I volunteer my time teaching and demonstrating my art to middle and high schools, and conduct workshops for art teachers as well as hobbyists. In my not-so-spare time, when I’m not riding my bike, hiking or cross-country skiing, I still create art through multimedia and watercolor collages.
